Los Angeles County Health Services provides medical care through a network of County clinics and hospitals. Use the official patient services below to establish care, arrange appointments, access your health information, or request help with medical bills.

Independent, non-government information: This website is not affiliated with Health Services. We do not provide medical diagnosis, arrange appointments, access patient accounts, or accept medical records.

Establish Regular Care
A “medical home” is the clinic where you receive regular care from an established health care team. That team provides preventive care, manages medical conditions, evaluates health concerns, and arranges specialist referrals when needed.
Health Services offers adult, pediatric, and family medicine medical homes, along with specialized services for women, older adults, and patients with particular medical conditions or disabilities.
Use the clinic search on the Get Care page or call 844-804-0055, Option 1, to ask about becoming a patient.
The department states that care is available to uninsured Los Angeles County residents regardless of ability to pay. It also serves patients enrolled in Medicare, Medi-Cal, and the Children's Health Insurance Program. Ask staff about enrollment, coverage, and the arrangements that apply to your care.
Services and Referrals
The service directory includes primary and specialty care, hospital and surgical care, laboratory testing, radiology, pharmacy, rehabilitation, mental health, and substance use services.
Services vary by facility. Your primary care team can help coordinate referrals and explain the next steps for specialty treatment.
Health Services also lists preventive care, food, housing, and Housing for Health resources. Review the specific program's requirements and available services when seeking additional support.
Locations and Appointments
The official facility directory lists Health Services hospitals and health centers, including general contact and appointment numbers. Some entries also provide pharmacy, financial services, billing, and Patient Relations contacts.
Use the number for the service you need. At several hospitals, the appointment line differs from the main switchboard.
Arrange or Change an Appointment
- New patients: Call 844-804-0055, Option 1.
- Current patients: Select Option 9 or use your facility's appointment number.
- New specialty appointments: Select Option 7 or call 855-521-1718.
- Portal users: Review the appointment functions available in your LA Health Portal account.
The official appointment page explains facility scheduling and portal access.
Before Traveling
Check your appointment confirmation for the exact address, building, floor, and room. A hospital's general address may differ from the entrance or building used by a particular clinic.
Review campus maps, parking information, and current relocation notices. The portal can display appointment location details and campus maps. If you request a change or cancellation online, check for confirmation from the clinic.
LA Health Portal
The LA Health Portal is a free, secure website and mobile app for accessing health information and communicating with your care team. Use the official page to log in, enroll, or find app instructions.
Available functions include:
- Viewing upcoming appointments and requesting changes or cancellations.
- Sending nonurgent questions to your doctor's office.
- Reviewing medications and submitting renewal requests.
- Viewing available laboratory and imaging results.
- Accessing immunization records, procedures, and doctor notes.
- Receiving reminders and correspondence from your doctor's office.
For enrollment help, call 844-804-0055, Option 3.
Messages, eVisits, and Video Visits
Routine messages: Use portal messaging for nonurgent questions. The department states that your doctor's office typically responds within three business days.
eVisits: Complete an online form through the portal for the care available through this service. The portal page states that providers respond within one hour between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., seven days a week. Review the current eVisit instructions and availability before submitting a request.
Video visits: Ask your care team whether an appointment can take place by video and follow its scheduling and connection instructions.
Portal messages and eVisits are not emergency services. For a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
Medication and Medical Record Requests
Submit medication renewal requests through the portal when available, or contact the pharmacy service at 844-804-0055, Option 5. A request requires review; submitting it does not mean a prescription has already been renewed.
For medical record requests, select Option 4 and follow the responsible facility's instructions. Information visible in your portal may not replace a formal request for particular records or their release to another party.
Nurse Advice, Urgent Care, and Emergencies
LA Health Nurse Advice Line
Call 844-804-0055, Option 2. The dedicated Nurse Advice Line page lists service from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. Confirm current availability through that page or the telephone prompts.
The line serves patients receiving primary care at Health Services clinics and uninsured community members living in Los Angeles County. It provides advice when you or your child feels unwell, cannot promptly reach a provider, or needs help deciding where to seek care.
The department also states that young people ages 12–17 can call privately about health concerns. For a life-threatening emergency, call 911 instead of waiting to speak with the advice line.
Urgent Care
Health Services urgent care offers unscheduled visits for less serious illnesses or injuries that cannot wait for a routine appointment. Current patients are advised to contact their primary care clinic first to ask about a same-day appointment.
The official urgent care directory provides service-specific addresses, telephone numbers, and hours. Check that listing before traveling: hours differ by location, and the urgent care entrance may be separate from the facility's general address.
For example, the directory identifies Los Angeles General's urgent care in Clinic Tower A2B at 1100 N. State Street, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Outpatient Center's urgent care at 12021 S. Wilmington Avenue, First Floor, Suite 1D. Use the current listing for the service you plan to visit.
Emergency Departments
Health Services lists 24-hour emergency departments at:
- Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
- Los Angeles General Medical Center.
- Olive View-UCLA Medical Center.
The emergency services page provides official location information and describes pediatric emergency services.
Urgent care hours and emergency department hours are different. Do not assume that every Health Services hospital or outpatient center has a 24-hour emergency department.
Language and Transportation Assistance
Health Services states that care will be provided in your preferred language at no cost. Tell scheduling staff or your care team about interpretation, translation, or other communication assistance you need.
Transportation options are also available for Health Services patients who need help getting to medical appointments. Ask about the arrangements that apply to your visit, including how to request a ride and any advance notice required.
The appointment information page links to the department's language access and transportation resources.
Coverage and Financial Assistance
Patient Financial Services (PFS) helps patients explore Medi-Cal coverage, apply for financial assistance, and address medical bills. Call 844-804-0055, Option 6.
The department states that no one will be denied access to services because of inability to pay. Ask PFS to explain the coverage or assistance available for your circumstances.
Ability to Pay Program
For Los Angeles County residents, the department's financial assistance program is called the Ability to Pay Program (ATP). Its published overview describes no-cost assistance for patients with income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level and reduced costs on a sliding scale for those above that threshold.
The sliding scale depends on family size and income. PFS can explain eligibility, covered charges, required documentation, and the application process. The program description does not mean every service or bill is automatically free.
Review the current policies, applications, and multilingual brochures on the financial services page. Most PFS locations are listed as open Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; confirm arrangements for the office you need.
Coverage Applications and Billing Questions
For a Medi-Cal application, the financial services page also identifies BenefitsCal and the Department of Public Social Services Customer Service Center at 866-613-3777.
For an existing bill, have the statement, facility name, account or reference number, and any prior correspondence available. Some facilities list separate billing and PFS numbers in the official directory.
If you believe a hospital wrongly denied financial assistance, the financial services page links to California's Hospital Bill Complaint Program, which reviews hospital financial assistance eligibility decisions.
Patient Questions and Concerns
The official contact form accepts questions, comments, and complaints. The department asks users to allow at least two business days for a response and instructs them not to include medical information in that form.
Identify the relevant facility or program and briefly describe the response you need. For a concern about care at a particular hospital, check its Patient Relations contact in the facility directory.
Use the secure portal for nonurgent communication with your doctor's office and the designated service for appointments, prescriptions, records, or financial assistance. Do not send medical records or confidential patient information to this independent website.
Selected Hospitals and Health Centers
The table below lists selected facilities, not the entire network. Use the complete official facility directory for additional locations, current contacts, campus maps, pharmacies, financial services, and Patient Relations.
These are general facility addresses and contact numbers. Confirm the exact clinic location on your appointment notice. For urgent care, use the separate urgent care directory.
